DRAPING

It is the process of shaping fabric on a live person or mannequin. Patterns for clothing models can be obtained on a live or mannequin using paper and/or fabric through draping. This technique is called draping.

SITUATIONS REQUIRING DRAPING WORK

Model characteristics: It is difficult or quite laborious to create patterns for some models (draped, asymmetrical, etc.) using the cutting method. Creating patterns for such models using the draping method makes the job easier.
Seeing the whole model: Draping technique is also used to see how a model will look on a mannequin.
For disproportionate body types: It is quite difficult to apply patterns and cutting to some body types. For example; Body height and hip drop are disproportionate to the body; the person is either too fat or too thin, or there are differences between the right and left sides of the body. In situations like these, using the draping technique is more advantageous.
For rehearsal and control exercises: Draping is also practiced for rehearsal and control exercises.

• Draping practice develops and improves the ability to rehearse.
• It enables the development of model creation skills.
• It allows one to recognize the properties of fabrics.
• It allows one to see the proportions of model details (cups, sleeves, pockets, skirt and bodice, etc.) as a whole and to adjust their aesthetic harmony.
• It enables one to acquire the ability to select models suitable for disproportionate and asymmetrical bodies and to work according to certain rules.

CONTENT OF THE DRAPING COURSE

• Participants will gain the knowledge and skills to prepare the pattern, cut, and pre-sewing processes of a women's dress using the draping technique, and to sew it.
• Taking mannequin markings (waist, hips, middle, etc.).
• Drawing a dress pattern and a basic skirt pattern, and transferring the drawn patterns to tracing paper in a way that is appropriate to the technique.
• Sewing the dress and making the pattern.
• Applying a model with an asymmetrical drape detail on a polyurethane needle-prick mannequin.
The process of removing the model from the mannequin and assembling it in the machine as a draft.
• Working quickly on a model on a mannequin.

1975 yılında İstanbul’da doğdu. 1997 yılında Marmara Üniversitesi Hazır Giyim Öğretmenliği Bölümü’nden mezun oldu. Mezuniyetinin ardından 2 yıl özel sektörde Giyim Üretim Planlama Uzmanı olarak görev yaptı.Sonrasında Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı bünyesinde kadrolu Giyim Üretim Teknolojisi Öğretmeni olarak çalışmaya başladı. 25 yıl boyunca Meslek Liseleri ve Halk Eğitim Merkezlerinde kalıp hazırlama teknikleri ile dikiş yöntem ve teknikleri üzerine eğitim verdi.Emekliliğinin ardından Atölye Ataşehir’de mesleki deneyimlerini paylaşmaya ve ders vermeye devam etmektedir.İş DeneyimleriTC.
